Fathomless

Christmas Poem 2011

Dry,
Dust,
Crackled
Trees withered,
And now finally rain,
The drenched Earth rejoices
So hungry after the long summer drought.
We are unaware as the great engines spin.
Our one star in the curved arm of the Milky Way.
And we live another year on our blue ball marble
Hung by God, and wonder at the mysteries of dust
Come alive, and the door opened to glory in the highest.
This year the whispers of eternity ask me to put aside the thoughts
That slow my spin, they assure me of fathomless love and unending peace.
A soul candle flares with this light, here I am, dust brought to life
Oh, and I like the dry earth,
I stretch out my arms
And take in long
Awaited rain.

I will be back next year with more reasons to seize the day.

Here is my Christmas doodle.

My quote for this day:

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. Isaiah 9:2

Christmas Poem 2010

I hope this day is full of grace for you.

Thoughts at Midnight...

A cold winter morn.
Nothing has turned out
the way I hoped it would.
And yet the sun shines, the world spins,
new wonders are around the corner, ready to be found.

This Christmas I'm glad for breath,
a place to sleep at night, I'm glad for friends and family.
I'm glad for a creative spirit. Joy, come in! Peace, flood my soul.
Let the fire within me burn brighter from this day on, let it roar like a bonfire.

My one gift -- imagination, given to stir up souls,
Imagine no debts, imagine every thing that's owed is paid,
imagine no more sickness, imagine no more tears, imagine no more hurting,
imagine no more war, imagine no more death, imagine God is with us. I am no dreamer.

We are more.

See you next year!

Here is a doodle I thought I lost, but found it in the move. I call it, "Praise Him from the Heights."

2009 Christmas Poem

Here's my annual offering, folks. Not much but heartfelt.

Christmas morning!
Hear children open their stockings.
Shouts. Arguments. Hugs. Pandemonium.
And it's just beginning.
Stacks of blueberry pancakes,
and then children rip paper off packages.
I bask in the glow of tree lights.
Over the squeals and peals,
songs that Mema sang wrap around me.

Not everyone gets what they want.
The cat rolls in the catnip.
I think back to Christmas with my mom and sigh.
No, it's never a perfect morn,
but it's always good.

I love Christmas morning.
A pearl of a day on life's journey.
And I pause and feel the love.
I know we folks are more than we think.
I lift up my face in thanks.

These moments are a taste
of the good things to come.
A breath of thought,
my soul is near the light
of the incorruptible.
Like cleansing rain,
it washes away
the heaviness of the past year.
All my cares fall away
And I open to Emmanuel.

I know God with us.
An unsung song fills me.
My heart, touched by His Son's day.
An unsung song floods me.
Room is made in this heart of mine.
and I smile every time,
and repeat the sounding joy,
Born, crucified, risen,
coming again. Amen.

I love Christmas morning. Selah.

And now my quote:

Be content with what you have, for God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." So say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid."

Christmas Prayer 2008

Be
Sing
Waltz,spin
Keep it real
Shout Hallelujah
Look on the bright side
Hear the bells, taste sweets
Hold on to the good, toss out the bad
Enjoy the sunshine, weather the storm
Pray, hope, forgive, redeem, remember love
Help me,
O Lord
Amen
